In the case of natural gas, the consumer can choose the gas retailer. You can buy the gas at a deregulated price or at a regulated price (if your consumption is less than or equal to 50,000kWh/year).
Below we explain how rates at regulated prices work.
What does it consist of?
The Last Resort Rate (LRR) for gas is a rate set by the Government and which you can sign up for if you use less than 50,000kWh/year and you have a low-pressure gas supply. Most residential consumers meet these requirements
You can get this rate from one of the Last Resort Retailers (LRR) of gas.
There are three Last Resort Rates (at different prices) depending on your yearly usage:
For consumption less than or equal to 5,000 kWh a year
For low consumption between 5,000 and 15,000 kWh a year
For low consumption between 15,000 and 50,000 kWh a year
What is the current price of the Last Resort Rate for gas?

*Price with taxes. Includes: Special tax on hydrocarbons: natural gas for domestic use (0.002338 ¤ / kWh) and on the amount resulting from the above apply indirect taxes: VAT (21%) for the peninsula and the Balearic Islands. For the Canary Islands the IGIC (7%) applies and for Ceuta and Melilla applies the IPSI (1%).
Does the price of the Last Resort Rate for Gas vary?
Yes. Prices change quarterly. The Ministry is responsible for updating them according to current legislation
There is no obligation to remain and no penalty clause..
Contract duration is 1 year, automatically extendable for consecutive 1 year periods..
In compliance with current legislation the maximum period for change of supplier is 21 days if the distributor finds no technical problem or deficiencies in the connection.
